Our contract to provide the immigration telephone enquiry line finished on 30.6.08

The contract has now been taken over from 1.7.08 by Wilsons Solicitors. They are providing the telephone advice service Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm. Their phone number is 0845 677 2205.

About CallCounsel

Call for immediate oral advice or information from barristers. For only the cost of the call or sending a fax or email, contract* holders get a direct link to a specialist barrister in the appropriate field of law. No fee is payable by the lay client or the calling adviser. (The service is not available for use by the lay clients directly nor for solicitors and advisers without LSC contracts. Nor should the service be called if the client already has a public funding certificate.)

CallCounsel aims to offer quick access to a specialist barrister who will be able to offer advice over the telephone. The calls coming-in to our dedicated lines will be answered directly by counsel on duty. Each barrister will not only be able to communicate with callers by telephone but will be able to fax written material necessary to supplement the oral advice given. Each barrister will have a dedicated Library (hard copy and electronic) at her/his fingertips.

Using the CallCounsel service

When calling if the lines are busy then you will be told your position in the queue so that you can judge whether you wish to hold on. There is no charge for using the service beyond the cost of your call.

Primarily the CallCounsel service will be accessed by callers needing immediate specialist advice on matters raised by individual clients' cases. It is designed to enable callers to directly secure counsel's view on the merits of a case, and the most appropriate way to proceed.

The service will also be especially useful to advisers having difficulty researching a particular legal point or needing the most up-to-date information about developments in a specific subject area.
